On July 2, 2025, the FORCE consortium officially launched its activities with a kick-off meeting held in Paris. The event brought together representatives from 14 cancer charities across Europe to align on a shared vision for pragmatic clinical trials driven by the nonprofit sector.
Organized by Fondation ARC pour la recherche sur le cancer, the meeting featured keynote presentations and expert panel discussions on the role of pragmatic trials in oncology, current gaps in care for patients with rare or poor-prognosis cancers, and the importance of patient organizations in shaping relevant, inclusive, and impactful research.
The meeting marked an inspiring start to the 4-year Coordination and Support Action funded by the European Union under Horizon Europe. FORCE aims to design a sustainable, charity-led Pragmatic Clinical Trial Programme aligned with the goals of Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan.
